Currently& FIVE for Friday~Seuss Edition!

Slide1

Another month has come and gone (thank goodness).  You know what that means! It’s time for Currently over at Farley’s!  She should consider doing stand up on the side because she is seriously funny! =P

Well, let’s get on with it shall we?

I’m currently watching Breaking Dawn 2 for the second time! Have you ever watched a movie fully aware of what was going to happen and still smile and gasp through it like you’d never seen it!? It got to the end scene and I could barely hold my mouth closed! And immediately hit the menu button to watch it again!

I’ve enjoyed having this last week off from studying. It has come to a quick close with a welcome email from my professor for my next class. I can hardly believe I started working on a master’s and now I’m beginning my third class. Time flies!

I fell asleep last night without tying my hair up…let’s just say, you wouldn’t actually want to see what I currently look like, lol!

This break from studies has been nice, but I am truly r-e-a-d-y for spring break!  One more week….I think I can make it! {I think…………}

The sign says it all (see wanting…spring break)…. A good nap cures what ails ya. =)

This month came with a rule for liking, loving and hating…the three words had to begin with the same letter as my first name. Kinda tough! My first name is Tanya with an a, not an o….Tanya, T-a-n-y-a, Tanya. I like to talk, chat, gab away…..blah, blah, blah, lol! I’m a leo, we’re pretty outspoken. I’m loving Tuesdays! It’s become my new favorite day of the week because its the day I attend worship prep. There’s nothing quite like getting a good ole dose of being in the presence of God to help you make it through the week! Hate is such a strong word, BUT I hate tackiness…my little girl drives me insane because she carries herself like a little old lady. She’s so cute and it just drives me nuts that she could care less about what she looks like when she leaves the house. In the grand scheme of things, its irrelevant….but it drives me nuts all the same!

Yeah, it’s Saturday…..heheheee! I came home and crashed HARD yesterday, but didn’t want to miss a link up with Kacey from Doodlebugs Teaching. Check out the pics from our fab celebration of Read Across America. We’ve got the best PTA volunteers on the planet! They pulled off a pretty rockin’ event!

There’ll be no making of thneeds with these truffala trees!

                Slide4 Slide5

Quite obviously, this is the first fam of fun! I’m such a lucky teacher to have connections to real celebrities! Meeting the real Cat in the Hat and Lorax {wink, wink} was a blast!

Slide6

And with the collective smiles of 3/5 of the crew that keeps grade ONEderful hoppin’ caught on camera, it was a wrap!

Thanks for sticking around and have a great weekend! I’m off to take one of those smallish naps! See ya!

What a week, CURRENTLY, & a sale!

The week started out GREAT!

photo 1

The heaven’s opened and one of my little struggling students had a wonderful “lightbulb” moment. I love this kid to pieces because he’s almost as stubborn as I am! He’s very creative about avoiding reading, but little does he know, he’s met his match in a teacher that’s just as determined to see him GROW!

On Monday, he sat down to read with me and was so excited to have successfully read his guided reading book. It was one of those moments, where I seriously had to fight back tears! I’m a big softy for “my kids”. After he did such a fantastic job, I sent him to read to another teacher. His face lit up like a Christmas tree and my heart just melted into a big ole blob of proud.

When he came back, he told me to hold out my hand and then gave me the stickers that my team mate had given him! {tear} He said that I had worked really hard to help him and he wanted me to have it! {Insert content sigh-------------------------->here.} I wore those stickers ALL afternoon!

THEN, I was voluntold to help with benchmark testing and had to leave my beloved land of firsties for two days. No biggie, I just hated having to press “pause” after having the type of breakthrough I’d been working for all.year.long.

In math, we worked on telling time. The kids had the most fun working with the practice clocks, but were very insightful during our discussion about analog and digital clocks. They realized that most of the time, we don’t use analog clocks. Most of the time, we don’t even use clocks at all…..we check the time on our phones, ipods, ipads and computers!

sundial

In Science, we’re currently engrossed in objects in the sky. The kiddos really enjoyed creating sundials and learning how they related to telling time! This was the brainchild of one of my coworkers and took a minute for me to understand, so I was glad that my kiddos enjoyed it so much. I’m not sure who had more fun checking the position of the shadow during the day…me or them!

And now…..wouldn’t you know! Another month has come and gone! It’s time for CURRENTLY! =)

CURRENTLY~Happy New Year!

Hi~ya, friends! How are ya?

I’ve just got in from New Year’s Eve service and am so excited, there’s no way I’m going to sleep anytime soon…..sooooo, I thought I’d catch up with Farley and her January installment of Currently!

JANUARYCURRENTLY

There’s almost always music playing in my house. I could go without watching TV, but listening to music…NEVER! I’m listening to a song that we sang tonight during worship. It was on repeat in my head, so to itunes I went!

*LOVING* my family and church right now! The kiddies and I took a trip to OKC to spend the holidays with my siblings and it was awesome to have most of us together again! It was the first time our kids had seen each other in 5 long years, but you couldn’t tell by the way they played and laughed together. It’s amazing how genuine love can exceed the boundaries of time and distance.

My church is simply an amazing, inspirational place!

THINKING…My self diagnosed OCD must be under control because I didn’t clean my room before the new year came in! Oh, well! There’s always tomorrow….

WANTING…someone else to tackle my closet! Ha! Where, exactly does all of that stuff come from anyway? {wink, wink}

NEEDING…{absolutely} nothing! As I reflect over 2012, I am tremendously blessed. I lack nothing and am decidedly grateful for all that I have.

OLW (One Little Word)…GROW. It’s my focus for 2013. It goes right along with my constant mantra. Keep moving forward.  You can’t grow focused on the past. I’m looking forward to all that 2013 has to offer!

“See ya soon”, bloggy buds & HAPPY NEW YEAR to you!

CURRENTLY & SETUP SO FAR

Hi, Friends! Can you believe it’s actually August?  You know what that means! It’s time to link up with Farley at Oh, Boy Fourth Grade for this month’s edition of currently!

Slide1

Please, don’t judge me by music choice.  That song is so fun and catchy! I’m not listening to Big Time Rush all by myself.  I do have two little Nickelodeon kids dancing right along to it with me.  {Whooooo hoooo!!!}  Google it, you’ll have it stuck in your head too!

I’ve spent the last few days going back and forth between happy to have my school keys and in Sadsville because my car was slammed into by some nutty maniac paying absolutely NO ATTENTION to where he was going! I’ve had my car, that I still *LOVE*, long enough for it to be all paid for & what do ya know! BAM!!! In pieces….BUT I’m grateful to have walked away without even so much as a scratch and have my fingers crossed that she’ll be all fixed very soon.

photo 1

{In between pouts, sulks, and many phone calls waiting on hold with claims adjusters…..}This is a little of what I’ve been up to.  I love having those golden keys back in my possession! It’s so funny how we wish for August to pass slowly, but can’t wait to set up our classrooms!

Before we move on to more pictures, please bow your head for a moment of silence.  See those two little bulletin boards lovingly covered with clouds? They’re the ONLY two places in my whole, ENTIRE classroom that I can staple! {Insert, long……..pitiful sigh here.} That’s it.  No more boards.  No cute displays!  That’s a wrap!  I never knew a person could miss something so small, so much.

photo 2

My little teacher’s desk.  And that’s perfectly fine with me.  The smaller the better.  Who’s got time to sit at it anyway? I’d *LOVE* to get rid of it!

photo 3

The basic setup. (It will change.) See the rainbow evolving?  Boy, do I love colored bins! Pink, red, yellow, green, blue, purple…..hmmmm!!!  It still needs some tweaking, but you get the picture!

photo 2

Our magnificent mailbox/cubby combos.  AND do you see them? Huh? Do ya? Do ya? Well, DO YA? The absolutely A-Mazing book boxes that cost…..that cost………(oh!)….{sniff}….single tear….$1!That’s right folks, a whole buck! Now, before you leave and race off to Target, hold your horses and finish reading my post! Ha!

photo 4

The status of the classroom on Day 2 looked a little more like this.  *LOVE* Lakeshoreity Shore.  My handy dandy easel came in from the garage and is ready for lots of shared writing and big books! Which reminds me…where’s the ledge?  I forgot to attach it!  Thing  #4,762 added to the list of things to do.  Next….

AND last, but most certainly not least, there it is in all its splendor! The Literacy Cafe. Opening for business on August 27, 2012! Come get your yummy reading goodness! We’ll be adding mini-clips with our classroom numbers to the Daily 5 signs for rotations. If you’d like to use these headers, click the pic to grab ‘em!

Things are coming right along! Thanks for stopping by today! Be sure to tune in next week. I’ve got some freebies in the works that I wouldn’t want you to miss!  See that little follower number? It’s sooooo close to 400, but my goal is to reach 500 followers BEFORE school starts!

I know, its only a few short weeks away, but I’ve got a little something in mind that I’m hoping will speed up the process! Be sure to check in to see what it will be!

Okay…now, you can run out to Target before all of those book boxes are gone! See ya later, gator!

CURRENTLY & A LITTLE FREEBIE

I’m linking up with Farley for her July ‘Currently’.  What a weekend!
I’m trying to come down from the excitement of reaching 200 followers, but it’s kind of hard! The last time I checked my numbers, I was headed towards 300 already!  That Mrs. Stanford REALLY knows how to throw a celebration!  Besides doing the happy dance to celebrate the explosive growth of my blog, this is what I’m currently up to.  {Calming down….a little…with a ridonkulously BIG smile}
OK…no I’m not! Hahahahaha….I’m too excited!

Before you head over, here’s a little freebie for ya.  You can click the pic to grab it!
