MEET SHUNA P, MY BLOGGY BESTIE!

Meet Shuna, my VERY first guest blogger!

Hiya Peeps

Shuna P here from

Pocket Full of Kinders!

* I am a rambler just so you know*

I am so happy that Tanya F.I.N.A.L.L.Y

let me guest blog over here

Pull up a seat and get comfy because I sure am!

Have y'all started back to school yet?

I have a few more days and I can't seem to get my rear end in gear

I lost my mojo somewhere

This summer I have done absolutely nothing!

I had all these grand plans but laziness took over

So here I am with less than a week to go trying to get everything ready for the new school year

This is my classroom

Go ahead take it in

This is how my classroom looked when I walked in and 2 weeks later it still pretty much looks the

same. I need to hire a detective to search for my mojo because I am in desperate need of it!

Here is a quick look of how my room looks so far

I was so not going to do a theme this year but I found this at Target

the plates were .10cents and the table covers were .50 cents!

So now I have a Hawaiian/Luau theme

Every year when I go into my room I have to bring lots of help

This is what happened to my help today

The victim: My little sis

She slipped

She fell

She slid

I L.A.U.G.H.E.D!

Hard

Really Hard

The culprit: A innocent little pocket chart

So this year I wanted to hang curtains

They came out really pretty

but I almost died in the process!

Why you ask?

Because I had to hang my curtains with this death trap

(excuse the head in the pic! I promise it is not mine)

The freakin ladder decided that it would break

While I was on it

Seriously

The nerve of said ladder!

We did however get some things done

Here is a pic of my soon to be word wall

Here is a look at my bulletin boards

I used fabric to cover them and used a grass skirt that I cut and leis to cover them

Anyhoo

Just because you waded your way through my rambles I decided to give you a little treat

I have managed to muster up a little bit of will power for ya

Here is a great game for those beginning first and second graders!

I would love to see you over at my blog

See you there

Peace Out

Peeps!

Today’s the Day!

It’s finally here! It’s time for the Playful Learning book study!

It’s being hosted by Heather at Teaching My 3 and promises to be informative and fun!  This book takes a creative look at developing your child’s sense of joy and wonder as they learn. Both teachers and parents alike can walk away with a number of simple activities that promote important skills for young learners.

We’ve been reading, playing, planning, and giving away opportunities to take a closer look at this fabulous find for weeks and are so excited to finally share it with you!

Please click the pretty little button above to head over to Heather’s for the big “kick-off”!  I’ll meet you there!  Have a wonderful SONday!

IT’S A WRAP!

I originally created this post as a guest blog for Valerie @ AllStudentsCanShine.  Now….I’m sharing it with you!

I’ll be back on Monday to thank all of my new friends for the many Versatile Blogger and Lovely Blog awards I’ve received over the last few days! You all really know how to make a girl feel loved! I appreciate your complimenting my little blog and want to make sure that I don’t miss anyone.

If YOU’d be interested in guest blogging, take a sec and fill out the form on my Guest Blogger tab at the top of the page.  I’d love to host, if you’d like to visit! I hope you enjoy the post! Have a great weekend!

The school year is over and it’s time to put away all of the things you’ve lovingly “needed” and used all year to help your students shine.  I thought I’d share just a few {organizational} tips that I use at this time to wrap up the year and prepare for the next all at the same time!

Actually, I have ONE guiding tip that I use to clear my room for the end of the year:  KEEP ONLY WHAT YOU NEED!  Surprisingly, I find that I need a lot less than I think I do. We work so hard all year long to make and create quality resources for our kids.  We shop.  We buy. We organize and we clutter, lol!  The end of the year is the best time to make sure to weed out things that are outdated, out of use, or just plain ‘ole taking up valuable classroom real estate.

Keep only the resources that you actually USE. I organize mine by use/purpose: word work, writing, sight words, poetry, printables, etc…

Admittedly, I am a bin~aholic and fixated on rainbow order so I store them that way.  Everything that I need to set up stations when I go back in August is grouped together. The silver shelves are small baker’s racks.  They fit perfectly at the ends of groups of desks without taking up a lot of physical or visual space.  I love them!

What teacher doesn’t love books, books, and MORE books? These boxes aren’t very attractive, but they’ve managed to hold all of my personal read alouds for the past few years.  One of my goals is to label them in a more attractive way for the new year…Pinterest, here I come! I’m also planning to replace them with plastic bins.  Rather than having all books out during the year;  I change them monthly, in order to maintain student interest.

…..and that’s all folks! Simple, clean, decluttered….a blank slate ready for the new year.  Keep only what you need.  Organize it so that’s easy to find when you return in the fall.  I hope I’ve shared a little something that might be helpful!

Thanks for spending this time with me.

~a completely blank slate ready for a very Pinteresting makeover in the fall! There’s no place like home and going into year 2, it will be time to make it feel more like one! Thanks for stopping by!
