FINALLY…DECIDED!!!

Hi there, friends! It’s been a busy last couple of days here.  After going back and forth and back and forth, I’ve finally made up my mind about what I want my classroom theme backdrop to be for this year!

It’s always most important for me to have the kid’s work that’s displayed in the room be the primary focus.  We practice routines and build what will hang on our walls together through shared writing, so what they come in to see at Meet the Teacher, simply sets the stage for what is to come!

This is what my classroom currently looks like {blank slate}.

This is what I envision it looking like in the fall.

With that in mind, I’ve done a little (more) shopping!

The metal rack matches the shelving I use for my table groups.  I just love the way they disappear visually. I like a very clean, uncluttered look. These shelves are perfect for that! It’s been my goal to level my library for the past 2 years!  I’m excited to actually get it done this year as I embark on implementing the “principled habits’ of The Daily 5.

After reading The Daily 5 and beginning The Cafe, I’ve come to really understand just how important it is for students to have “good fit” books, so I’m looking forward to setting this all in motion.

Well, after picking up all of those goodies, the rest……..I’m going to make! Lol!!! That required me making one more purchase….

….the sweet rainbows that will bring the look together! I always display a rainbow in my classroom and am looking forward to this new take on it!  I am very impatiently waiting on this pretty little pack to hit my inbox so that I can begin working on it.  I will share the finished product as soon as I’ve completed it!  Stay tuned! :-)

After a yummy cup of cappuccino and finally getting my thoughts in order, I sat down to begin prepping little things for the classroom.  One of the first things students are introduced to is the daily schedule.

If you click the pic, you can grab this little set of cards for your classroom.   There are also  blank cards. Their order outlines our day with the exception that we’ll move into writing after fundations (phonics/word study). I tried to use universal titles that I thought most of us could use!

Genesis 9:12 And God said, This is the token of the covenant (solemn pledge) which I am making between Me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations…..

Enjoy &  have a great weekend!  More freebies and exciting things to come!

I especially like the book bins. I'm trying to decide why I would need them...What do you use yours for?

  7. Thanks for the sweet comments, ladies! I usually reply via email, but I noticed that a couple of you are "noreply" bloggers so I jumped in here!

I really like my classroom, but it was a new space for me this year, so I kinda had to 'get to know it'. I'm looking forward to improving upon how I used it this go 'round!

@ Sarah...I'm planning to use the book boxes for the students to shop for books from the library to read independently throughout the week (implementing Daily5).

    Thanks for stopping by!
