WHATCHA DOING? LINKY & a sweet freebie

Hi there, friends! Are you ready for another Manic Monday? How about a fun linky? I’m linking up with Vicky at Traditions, Laughter and Happily Ever After to catch up on what some of my favorite bloggers have been up to this summer.

What have I been up to, you ask?  I’ve shared lots of smiles, hugs, and and just good ‘ole times with my family.  This very well dressed gentleman is my Daddy~The Big Kahuna!

I smile just thinking about him!  He’s the best!

I spent a couple weeks with my kiddos and my mom.  Yes, I survived two weeks straight under the same roof with my mother, lol!  I believe I have now put all the things she “tweaked” in my house back into their proper spots! Ha!

While we played under the Texas sun and celebrated the 4th of July with our church family, My sister added a stamp to her passport with a “honeymoon” trip here…lucky girl!

After things around here returned to normal, I thoroughly enjoyed a few of these…

The world would be a better place, if we all just took the time to enjoy an Oreo Cookie Milkshake or two….or three!!! Hahahahaaa!

I’m currently listening to ….

These are the leaders of our music ministry.  Take a good look at that picture! You’ll see them on the big screen one day!  And last, but not least, this is what I’m reading and TELLING anyone who’ll listen about!

I mean I have been up until 3, sometimes 4 in the morning flipping these pages!  The 2 Sisters definitely know how to write a page turner! My absolute favorite time of the day is literacy stations and I’m thrilled to move forward this year with implementing The Daily 5!

When I began reading it, I had some misconceptions and began completely freaking out about how to implement it.  I mean really….all I could see was a room full of chaos as students got to choose what they wanted to work on that day!  Enter my birthday BFF! She gives me a good ‘talking to’ when I go off the deep end.  Her birthday is the day before mine, so we tend to think alike, but go off the deep end at different times.  Thank goodness!

Well, when I explained why I couldn’t see using The Daily 5, she calmly told me to go pick up The Cafe Book to help bring it all together for me!  God bless her sweet soul!  Talk about a light bulb moment! Just the blurb on the back of the book calmed my nerves!

Now, I’ve come to understand that I ALREADY DO what is outlined in these two books! It may be labeled differently or structured differently, but will require very little change to my day. Utilizing their approach will just help me to take my instruction and assessment to the next level AND will simplify it! What’s NOT to love about THAT?!! Excited???? ……..yes, I am!!!

Enter today’s freebie…..

These will be the headers for my CAFE menu.  Notice the rainbow background?  My little decor packet is coming together too!  Yay!

I’m gonna kill two birds with one stone and link this post up to Manic Monday at Classroom Freebies’ Manic Monday today too. But, since you’re already here….if you’d like to use these headers, click the pic to scoop them up!

MOST of what we’ll use for implementation, will be made during shared writing….BUT I’ve got to DO something will all this excitement so look forward to more printables and freebies to come!  Have a great day!

I’ll catcha later with details about how we, in room 113, will be implementing The Daily 5! And, if you have time…don’t forget to link up with Vicky! =)
